I am in need of a set of REAR boost wheels for a project I am trying to complete they need to be in excellent condition. The boost wheels are a little larger in diameter than the pro radiant wheels 2.2 compared to the 2.0 for the pro and the radiant so if anyone has any please send me an email. Thankyou FINALLY FOUND

STRIPPING THE PAINT FROM WHEELS

This stuff works great for stripping old wheels that were painted and it has proven to be safe for the plastic wheels. This set of AYK Radiant wheels are very tough to strip but after about 12 hours in the stripper the plating wiped off with ease I used a tooth brush to get into the tight corners and that worked very well.

AYK VIPER SHUTTLE

Well I finally got a little time to get started on the shuttle I recently purchased from ebay a while back. I broke down the shuttle and cleaned all parts sofar the shuttle is sporting a new chassis, new trannies, new body, and new tires and wheels the only thing left I need to find is a front bumper but most likely I will just make a new one. I started re assembly and I will add more pics as as the build persists

NIB TURBO OPTIMA MID SPECIAL CONVERSION KIT VERSION #2

Thanks to a great guy Jeff Harris, I now have a complete NIB Turbo Optima Mid Special Conversion Kit which will stay unbuilt in the box. The box is in excellent condition no fading or discoloration, I always wanted an unbuilt conversion kit never really thought I would find one great piece. There was new info on the Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid Special that I wasn't aware of until now kyosho produced 2 different versions of this chassis 1st being the cf chassis OT-122 with 6 and 7 cell capacity and this one OT-128 which is only for 7 cell that if you look at the top left corner of the front of the box you will see the re-engineered for 7 cell decal the chassis material is also different than the 1st version. IF ANYONE HAS ANYMORE INFO ON THIS PLEASE INQUIRE. THANKYOU

KYOSHO / COX SIDEWINDER TRUCK

The Sidewinder is one of the rariest of the kyosho scorpion series models this truck shares the same chassis as the first scorpion buggy and the beetle there is only a few differences between the three models the body being the biggest change kyosho did not produce many of the truck models so they are very scarce.I have a few of these one of them is actually new in the box. This one seen in the pics has also never been run and is in perfect condition

AYK PRO RADIANT / BOOST

Here is a new find that I just picked up it came with a bunch of tamiya buggies. I plan on turning this into a AYK Boost now that the boost bodies are available it should be a fun rebuild I will update as the build moves further. There was also a Race Prep Truck Conversion kit that came with this find never seen that before and it looks to be complete. Well I finally got started on the rebuild of the pro, I broke down the pro cleaned all the parts and now it is time for re assembly. I will add pics as the build goes on

After years of searching for this extremely rare buggy AYK VIPER I finally found one of my own. To anybody who collects AYK this is the holy grail of buggies which now I am a very happy to say I have one.Thankyou, Alex The Viper was AYK's first introduction into the off-road 4WD arena. It was based on the 2WD AYK Bobcat's transmission and rear axle designs. A chain drive was implemented into the drivetrain and went back to it's front trailing arm design. The Viper came in two body styles. The original Viper sported the exposed roll cage. Later, the Shuttle Viper was introduced sporting a one piece lexan body. info provided by Inet

Here is one of my Ascot sprint car projects that I started awhile back and is still on the work bench. I so far I have only cleaned up and polished all of the aluminum I still need to fabricate an aluminum bulkhead for it, front and rear arms, front shock tower, and arm mounts. I have seen a few people out there with aluminum arms so I will probably make life easier and purchase they arms. I am also on the hunt for a belt drive tranny for this build, I will update this project as it moves further on.

AYK BUFFALO

The AYK Buffalo was the next generation 2WD buggy following the AYK Sidewinder. It featured a newly improved transmission which now sported the motor directly at the rear (with a lower center of gravity). The front suspension was modified to support a new double wishbone axle system and a front stabilizer, however, wheel control was sacrificed since this new system had a lot of slop in the camber. Remnants of the Sidewinder still remain, however, in the rear trailing arm system. info provided by Inet

AYK PRO RADIANT

The AYK 4WD Radiant Pro is highly similar to the Radiant/Maverick/Boost. It is a chain driven 4WD. The Radiant Pro shares not only the same orange colored suspension as the Boost, but the Boost body as well. This is not really a surprise considering that Race Prep in Canoga Park, California, took over the US distribution for AYK after the Boost was introduced. The Radiant Pro won National ROAR titles via the skillful Race Prep Racing Team (the Dunn brothers). Race Prep offered various options for the Radiant Pro including the fiber saddle back battery tray and a protective lexan bottom shell. In addition, the Radiant Pro also came with optional front axles and wheels that allowed it to only go forward (many races did not allow reverse). The wheels that fit on these axles had locking bearings in them that did not allow them to spin in reverse. info provided by Inet

AYK GATOR

The AYK Sidewinder was the successor to the 566B Super Trail. It's a 2WD off-road buggy that clearly exemplifies the innovative use of aluminum that AYK is known for. It is certainly one of AYK's most unique buggies mixing both artistic flair and functionality. The AYK Sidewinder came in two versions, one with a solid lexan body and the other with a body/rollcage. It was introduced to compete against the Kyosho Scorpion. The goal was to create a lightweight buggy with a low profile and tight wheel control.

Several features stand out in this model. For one, AYK switched its transmission from a horizontal (566B) to a cross-wise position improving performance. In addition, it used front double semi-trailing arms (considered state-of-the-art at the time) and enclosed its shock absobers inside the body shell, limiting their exposure and improving aerodynamics. The rear trailing arm suspension is similar to the Tamiya Frog (which in fact won the German championship in 1984).

The Sidewinder was also marketed in alternate packaging known as the "Gator". The model was identical, but the packaging had obvious differences. info provided by Inet

New Built AYK Radiant

AYK's more popular 4WD buggy came in the form of the AYK Radiant. Keeping in line with their competition of the time, the Radiant looks very similar to the Kyosho Ultima. It sports an anodized aluminum chassis with a chain driven 4WD system with a mid mounted motor. The unique front suspension uses knuckles with upper and lower ball joints for support on upper and lower arms. It also comes with an optional 2 speed transmission. One major flaw is in the lexan Radiant body. The rear panel where it mounts to the chassis is extremely thin and rarely survives the first crash without beginning to tear.

Typical of AYK model duplication, the Radiant shares its design with the AYK Maverick and the AYK Boost. It would later be released in the US by Race Prep as the Radiant Pro (with orange suspension parts instead of black).

When Race Prep (Canoga Park, California) took over the US distribution of AYK's Radiant in the early 1990's, they also introduced various hop-ups for the Radiant/Maverick/Boost, including ball differential, aluminum suspension arms and upgraded shocks. info provided by Inet

MY EBAY TURBO OPTIMA PROJECT

When I first bought this it was a complete nightmare but for the price I could not pass it up. I tore it down completely and cleaned all useable parts once the cleaning was complete I found that I was still not happy with the look of the parts. So I went a head and buffed an polished all aluminum parts once that was completed I noticed a glimmer of hope for this once scrap yard of a optima buggy. I started the re assembly of the newly cleaned and polished optima and found that I could not stop at just putting it together useing all the old parts. So I went to my optima parts bin and started adding all new parts to the newly polished optima and was very satisfied with the way the project was heading I then decided to go all the way with the polished aluminum theme so I striped the ano off of a set of option house gold shocks and polished the shocks as well. At this point I had the optima sitting on the work bench and looked up at one of my gold anniversary turbo optimas and thought to myself wow this thing would look great with a set of nerf bars that would really finish it off unfortunetly I didn't have any used nerf bars so I had to take a new set from my parts stash and strip the gold ano off of them I hated to do it but I needed to move on with the project so I finished stipping the nerf bars polished them up and assembled them to the optima. My first thought was WOW this thing looks awsome especially with the new black parts wow, but now that it looks so good I don't know if I can through a lid on it and cover up all of that beatiful polished aluminum. So I am stuck at a cross road here with a body and paint.

I still need to find the right body for this project the optima mid body is a little to narrow to fit chassi so I will need to look at other optima mid bodies available to finish this build.The other thing that needs to be changed is the shocks I would like to switch to option house gold shocks I feel that the gold shocks would give a better look to the build and the wheels that I will be using on this buggy will be Tecnacrafts, hope you like the build so far

This is a recent project that I completed, this car started its life as a original Kyosho Ultima I had an extra body laying around so I decided on building a 1930/40 sprint car I always liked the look of the wingless sprints and this is the end result. I am pretty happy with how this build turned out up at the top you will see it at an earlier stage and below is the completed project.
